As the Games Health Partner in thriving communities, WDHB offer strength and balance classes, seated exercise classes and a range of seminars on ageing well. We will also have a wide presence throughout the games, so look out for the DHB team in our He Hapori Ora Thriving Communities t-shirts.

Ageing happens from birth. It’s a process which doesn’t just start when people are middle aged or elderly. For example, did you know we begin to lose our hearing from age 18? Healthy ageing and longevity are a combination of both genetic and non genetic factors with research suggesting only 25 percent of ageing is genetic. This means we can reverse many of the factors which speed up the ageing process by thinking about what we eat, increasing physical fitness and more.
